Claire Gibson is an associate in Boughton Law’s Corporate Practice Group, where she advises clients on a range of corporate matters. Her practice includes corporate transactions, due diligence, and advising on financing considerations for First Nations, with a particular focus on Indigenous economic development and environmental obligations. She assists clients in negotiating and implementing Impact Benefit Agreements and drafting commercial agreements.
Before joining Boughton Law, Claire practiced at a national law firm, where she gained experience in corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, and regulatory frameworks affecting businesses and Indigenous organizations. She worked on matters involving Federal and Provincial Indigenous Loan Guarantee Programs and considerations for First Nations in securing financing. Her background also includes assisting with corporate due diligence, preparing closing agendas, and drafting corporate documents such as resolutions and commercial agreements.
During law school, Claire served as a Summer Editor and Research Assistant for the Queen’s Law Journal and worked as a Teaching Assistant for Workplace Law. She also provided legal assistance to low-income individuals through Queen’s Legal Aid and the Queen’s Elder Law Clinic, managing a diverse range of client matters, including wills and estates, landlord-tenant disputes, and human rights claims.
Claire earned her J.D. from Queen’s University and was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2023.
